Learning a new craftsmanship and developing a new set of skills can always come in handy, especially if one as wholesome as sewing and one can even make a business of said skills once perfected. This, along with many other reasons, is why our dearest Christine Armstrong set out on quest to teach local members this set of skills. Alongside PEACE, Christine put together an amazing workshop that would benefit people in local communities Punta de Mita, Higuera Blanca and Corral del Risco.
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” – Benjamin Franklin. At PEACE Punta de Mita we firmly believe that education is the first step towards success, which is why we are highly committed to reaching all members of local communities, focusing on younger generations. Through our various programs we can encourage students to pursue any vocation of their choosing and we can help them along the way. Through our Scholarship Program, the follow up program to Campeones, we give students an opportunity to enroll in a prestigious school in Bahía de Banderas, hoping to enhance their academic reach. Although the Scholarship Programs is limited to high school level education, we like to accompany its members on every step of their journey to becoming successful professionals.
The 2019-2020 Campeones calendar kicked off to an amazing start back in October, having enrolled 15 new outstanding candidates from the Punta de Mita and Higuera Blanca secondary schools, 10 students and 5 respectively. And since, it’s been a busy schedule for PEACE and Campeones, starting with the annual Day of the Dead celebration which took place November 1st. A traditional celebration where Campeones honored beloved members who’ve moved on by creating a traditional Day of the Dead shrine. Following this event was the 2019 Campeones Posada, an event that gathered PEACE staff, local members of the community, and other special guests, all together celebrating Christmas traditions.
