In the past, Punta Mita Hospital and PEACE Punta de Mita have coordinated various events that have benefited numerous members of the Higuera Blanca, Corral del Risco and Emiliano Zapata communities. Such events have included: breast cancer awareness seminars, health seminars for teenagers, etc. The outcome of these seminars and events was exemplary, reaching as many people as possible giving them access to new possibilities and educating newer generations.
The latest project “Medical Brigades” will help provide guidance for local residents during any medical emergency. To get a better understanding of the project, José Luis Sotelo, a member of the Punta Mita Hospital has provided a brief description of such:
“Punta Mita Hospital, with the help of PEACE has developed the Medical Brigades, a project to support our local community, starting with Corral del Risco. These brigades offer different studies, medical tests, general consultation, that will be carried out by specialists, at a symbolic price of $ 20.00 pesos, with the objective of creating a clinical record of the members of the community and thus contribute to the prevention and detection of diseases while maintaining a healthier Punta de Mita.”
The Medical Brigades project is one of the many initiatives that PMH and PPM are developing to honor the Memorandum of Understanding Agreement signed a few months ago. With high hopes that every member of each local community can reach out and be a part of this project, knowing that they will be aided by qualified specialist.
