PEACE Punta de Mita honored World Autism Awareness Day across all programs with student-led activities centered on respect, tolerance, and equity, emphasizing the importance of awareness, empathy, and education.
Autism is often invisible. It doesn't always look the way people expect, and it is often misunderstood or even ignored. That's why World Autism Awareness Day matters. It isn't just a date on the calendar, it is a call to action for awareness, empathy, and education.
At PEACE, this day was honored across all programs—Campeones, Campeones Jr., and Prepanet—with drawings, discussions, group activities, and student-led presentations centered on values like respect, tolerance, and equity. These were not just school exercises, they were small but meaningful acts of transformation. Our young people were encouraged to be curious instead of judgmental, to ask questions instead of making assumptions, and to celebrate differences instead of fearing them.
Leadership Perspective
Dinorah de Haro, Executive Director at PEACE Punta de Mita, shared her personal perspective: "As a mother of a nonverbal child with level 2 autism, this goes beyond a school activity, it touches something very close to my heart."
She emphasized that autism often remains misunderstood and invisible, making every gesture of student empathy and curiosity profoundly meaningful for affected families and communities.
Call to Action
