This month, we say farewell — with immense gratitude and admiration — to one of the pillars of PEACE Punta de Mita. After twelve years of unwavering service, leadership, and generosity, Bob Farquharson has retired from the PEACE Board of Directors.
Bob’s connection to PEACE dates back to the very beginning. Between January and April 2013, he played a key role in shaping what would become the organization we know today. As a founding director and founding donor, Bob helped guide the transition from the earlier version of PEACE and set the foundation for an organization that would go on to transform lives through education, community development, and collaboration.
With his wife, Gail, by his side, Bob has been not only a committed donor but also a steady source of vision, wisdom, and encouragement. His experience with leading nonprofit and educational institutions in Canada — including the Royal Ontario Museum, the University of Guelph, and the Fraser Institute — brought invaluable perspective to our mission and governance.
Beyond his formal contributions, Bob’s kindness and integrity have left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of working with him. His belief in the power of education and his faith in the potential of Punta de Mita inspired all of us to aim higher and serve better.
As we continue to build on the foundation he helped establish, we do so with deep appreciation for his extraordinary legacy. The entire PEACE community — board members, staff, students, and families — joins in saying: thank you, Bob, for your leadership, your generosity, and your heart. Your impact will continue to shape PEACE Punta de Mita for years to come.
