Hello, my name is Frank Hutto. My wife Holly, and I live in Denver, Colorado, in the summertime. We have visited the west coast of Mexico for 30 years and chose Punta de Mita as our magic place in 2016. I am a retired mechanical engineer from the oil and gas industry. The industry is very challenging and I was excited to take it on for 35 years.
Three years ago, I was introduced to PEACE, the charity, and recognized another challenge. We are not new to charitable organizations, and I help my wife with her foundation at the board level. It was not hard to see a unique situation in Punta de Mita where a gate separates those with great needs and great potential from those with great wealth and generosity! I see PEACE as the organization that can create a long term bond through life-changing programs for those who will embrace opportunities through education. As a recent acquaintance told me, “EDUCATION IS THE EQUALIZER.”
What initially excited me was the campus project. The vision for the campus project is to create a learning environment in Punta de Mita which includes quality education for students through high school age and then a unique-for-the-area, college level education focused on the hospitality industry. We have all the raw ingredients for this challenge right here at our fingertips in Punta de Mita.
My thoughts are that the campus will be the heartbeat of the mission of PEACE Punta de Mita. For the organization to be viable into the foreseeable future, we need to establish robust plans to continuously recruit new people with new energy at the organization and board level. The organization is like a flower, it must grow and constantly reinvent its programs to meet the ever-changing needs of the people it serves or it will die on the vine. I would like to see PEACE move toward an endowment-funded operation to ensure its mission stays alive for future generations. PEACE can be the organization that changes the standard of living for our community if we give good people the opportunity to do good things! LET’S ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE!
Frank
