Honoring the Legacy of Bob Farquharson

PEACE Punta de Mita honors Bob Farquharson's retirement after twelve years of dedicated service and foundational leadership in the organization.

This month, PEACE Punta de Mita bids farewell to one of its foundational leaders. After twelve years of dedicated service, Bob Farquharson has retired from the organization's Board of Directors.

Farquharson's involvement with PEACE extends to its origins. Between January and April 2013, he served as a founding director and founding donor, instrumental in establishing the organization's framework. He helped shepherd the transition that created the current version of PEACE, which focuses on transforming lives through education and community development.

Throughout his tenure, Farquharson brought substantial expertise drawn from leadership roles at prestigious Canadian institutions including the Royal Ontario Museum, University of Guelph, and the Fraser Institute. His wife, Gail, supported him as a committed partner throughout his involvement.

Beyond formal governance contributions, Farquharson demonstrated "kindness and integrity" that affected everyone collaborating with him. His conviction regarding education's transformative power and his confidence in Punta de Mita's potential motivated the broader PEACE community to pursue greater ambitions.

As the organization moves forward, the entire PEACE community—encompassing board members, staff, students, and families—extends gratitude for Farquharson's vision, support, and dedication. His foundational contributions will continue influencing the organization's trajectory for years ahead.
