On October 5th, in collaboration with Punta Mita Hospital and in commemoration of Pink October, 25 mammograms were performed at no cost for the benefit of the three local communities PEACE Punta de Mita proudly serves. Women most in need of the mammograms were selected by PEACE, as we gathered all necessary documents and coordinated the logistics to transport the participants to Puerto Vallarta with the help of the MPM transport company. In Puerto Vallarta, the mammograms were conducted and all participants were accompanied and assisted until returning to the community of Punta de Mita.
At the same time, Punta Mita Hospital, always prioritizing the safety and health of everyone, performed COVID tests on all participants to rule out any risk. In the words of some of the attendees: "We are very grateful for the support received because it helps us feel more secure; prevention is the key to prompt treatment if necessary."
In addition to the mammograms being carried out successfully, PEACE also implemented a program of proactive geriatric consultations and a 3.0 campaign of comprehensive gynecological consultations in order to offer a more thorough check-up and try to cover as much as possible for the benefit of women in the community. Knowing that teenage pregnancy is a very common cause of school drop-out, we decided to focus on preventive health aimed at adolescents who have already had their first menstruation with a campaign called “My First Gynecological Consultation”.
These three campaigns together benefited over 80 women in the area and, in collaboration with Punta Mita Hospital, we hope to extend this campaign to other women in the community.
