Hello, I am Bridgett Meza Loza, I’m 18 years old, and I’m a graduate of the Campeones program, currently a member of the Scholarship Program and an outstanding student in the sixth semester at Colegio Bucerias (high school).
At the beginning of the Campeones program, outstanding students who are enthusiastic, share the program’s values, and are empathetic with their social and cultural environment are selected from among the candidates, as well as evaluating how much initiative they have about the problems that their community faces. In my group of peers, I was fortunate to be selected, spending 3 years in this program.
For me, Campeones was an environment in which I was able to develop my different social and communication skills, where I could interact with people from different countries (both donors and volunteers) and have the opportunity to practice a second language for free and optimally: English, which is essential considering that we live in an area with international tourism.
In addition to learning in an interactive way, I got involved with the current problems of our community and neighboring towns, developing and creating community projects for the benefit of both, where I was part of the organizing committee; I developed and planned together with my colleagues the outline of the project (bus stops and community markets) for the construction and fundraising of these. I also received recognition for the best performance in "entrepreneurial project" for two consecutive years, where I was the organizer responsible for all aspects of my own company, managing to raise $3,000 pesos, more than the amount specified in the call for proposals.
The teachers and other members of the PEACE Punta de Mita team are warm, creative, optimistic, responsible and empathetic, which favors effective learning for all students. The program even offers free quality psychological support, if needed.
This program offers an opportunity to acquire an academic scholarship to conclude our high school grade in a private school, thus providing a great opportunity to have a higher quality education. It was here where I became a deserving recipient of the Campeones full scholarship to attend high school for 3 years, with outstanding participation for being conscientious, disciplined, empathetic, as well as for being actively involved in the problems that my community faces.
I am very pleased to say that I was and am part of these programs, I feel very proud of what I have achieved, but I would not have achieved it without the people who supported me in this, so I want to take this opportunity to thank my mother, Lilia Loza, Ali Elias, Maria Rangel, Anaelena Giron and Karina Orozco, who opened the doors to this beautiful space and Carla Pliego, who I appreciate very much, because without them I would not be the person I am today. In the same way, I thank all the donors, who even without knowing us, place their trust in us and help us to develop our full potential.
Currently, I am the winner of the Academic Excellence Scholarship to study Communication and Audiovisual Arts at ITESO, one of the best private universities in the Bajío region.
In conclusion, Campeones is a great opportunity to grow educationally and personally as well as socially, suitable for those students who are currently in high school in the communities of Corral del Risco, Emiliano Zapata and Higuera Blanca, participating in projects developed by ourselves in which we solve the needs of the people.
