In April, Ali Elias, Executive Director of PEACE Punta de Mita, received the Consul for Press and Culture of the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara, Brittany Thompson, for a tour of the three communities and their different schools, this on the occasion of the generous donation that the U.S. Embassy made to PEACE in support of the English Program, months ago.
During this visit, Ali Elias took the opportunity to talk about the different programs and projects that we develop in PEACE for the benefit of the community of Punta de Mita, such as: education, leadership, English, women's empowerment and entrepreneurship development.
The Consul expressed her congratulations for the work done and the achievements made by PEACE, especially applauded the English Program, as she considered it a worthy recipient of the financial support that the Consulate General in Guadalajara grants through the USAID Mexico fund, which is mostly given to programs focused on the teaching and practice of the English language.
The meeting was so successful that there was talk of extending this alliance through other PEACE programs, such as through Campeones, through the Cultural and Professional Exchange Programs offered by the U.S. Department of State, designed for non-U.S. citizens who are willing to live for a period of time in the United States to achieve a true cultural, educational or professional exchange. This filled us with excitement and hope, as this type of program would allow our Campeones students to have the opportunity to explore American culture and perfect their English language skills.
All of us at PEACE are very motivated by the outcome of this visit, which will undoubtedly bear much fruit and which places us as a successful example of U.S.-Mexico collaboration for educational and cultural exchange through non-profit organizations.
