Last week, Ali Elias tendered her resignation as Executive Director, and after consulting with the Board’s Finance Director and legal consultants, Chair Ron Budacz accepted it. A national search for a replacement is underway, reporting to a special selection committee of the Board of Directors. PEACE expects the position to be filled in early 2023. The charity anticipates no disruption to the services defined by mission, and its short-term goal is to communicate this intention to the constituents of Corral del Risco, Emiliano Zapata, and Higuera Blanca.
During the interim, PEACE board member, Jeovana Van de Valde, has been appointed Acting Executive Director, overseeing day to day operations to assure that educational and community enlightenment programs remain uninterrupted. The approval of daily expenditures will continue by the Finance Director and/or Chair with monthly oversight by the Board’s Finance Committee. Phase 1 of the School Campus Program remains on plan with groundbreaking in the first quarter of 2023, and interface with the appropriate government entities continues under the Board’s Government Engagement Committee, headed by Ruben Oliva, legal consultant.
Ron Budacz commented, “While uncertainty is sometimes associated with organizational change, the planned active involvement of the PEACE directors in all aspects of the charity maximizes certainty and minimizes risk. We look forward to 2023 and beyond with excitement, and wish Ali success in her future endeavors”.
