Dear PEACE Community,

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you all - PEACE Punta de Mita has a new mascot, and it's a majestic Purple Whale! This remarkable symbol of identity and unity was born from the creative minds of our very own CAMPEONES students, reflecting their connection to the region and their journey within PEACE as an organization.

The story behind the creation of our beloved Purple Whale is a testament to the strength and power of our community. We initiated a contest among our CAMPEONES students, urging them to design a mascot that not only represents PEACE as an institution but also embodies the essence of the region—something emblematic of our beautiful coastal home.

Among the many submissions, two designs stood out. Abdiel Edrei envisioned a magnificent blue whale, symbolizing the region's marine wonders and the sense of belonging PEACE offers. Carmen Paola submitted an equally captivating purple whale, accompanied by a touching description. Carmen expressed that the purple whale did not belong to any existing whale family, which echoed the feelings of many young individuals who might feel lonely and ignored in society. She believed that within PEACE these thoughts find solace and individuals are understood without judgement and, just like the purple whale, unique and accepted.

Moved by Carmen's profound insight, we couldn't resist the opportunity to bring the two concepts together. Thus, the idea of the Purple Whale of Connection and Belonging was born. This captivating mascot is a fusion of the blue whale's representation of our region's nature and the purple whale's message of unity, understanding, and acceptance. It speaks to the heart of what PEACE is all about—a home, a refuge, where everyone finds a place to belong.

As of this writing, our new mascot remains nameless! We are planning to host a second contest where our students, as well as any interested individuals, will have the opportunity to suggest an official name for our Purple Whale. Any suggestion from our community will be greatly appreciated.

Our new mascot not only reinforces our identity as an organization but also embodies the spirit of togetherness and support that defines our vibrant community. We envision this Purple Whale to be an ambassador of peace, compassion, and inclusivity, bridging gaps and fostering harmony among all.

Beyond symbolizing our shared values, we intend to create merchandise featuring the Purple Whale of Connection and Belonging. The proceeds from these sales will be used to support our main programs, enabling us to reach even more young individuals and provide them with the guidance and support they deserve.

The process of designing our mascot has served as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary creativity and compassion that exists within our student community. We are immensely proud of their contributions and deeply touched by the poignant message that Carmen shared with us, which strengthens our resolve to cultivate a safe and nurturing environment where everyone feels understood, valued, and empowered.

As we embark on this new chapter with our Purple Whale of Connection and Belonging, we invite each one of you to join us in this journey. Let's collectively uphold the spirit of PEACE, supporting each other and making a positive impact on the lives of those around us.
